Grayson Perry: Who Are You?

I watched the fascinating Channel 4 series, ‘All in the Best Possible Taste with Grayson Perry’ which saw Perry explore the identity of the British people. He met a wide range of people from all walks of life, the conversations he had where thought provoking and revealing.

In tandem with the television Grayson Perry created six large-scale tapestries. It is these tapestries that are being exhibited at the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath. The work narrates a modern day story of Tim Rakewell a character original referred to in William Hogarth’s A Rake Progress, 1723. Each piece is very intricate, colourful from more than one perspective and thought provoking. A lot of everyday topics are questioned in the work, such as what we choose to eat, wear, live and prioritise. Grayson Perry captivating project covers all social class, political beliefs and consumerism.
