Common Toad

I recently photographed “toad of toad hall”! Well I like to think so because I grew up listening to voiceovers by Johnny Morris on Animal Magic, who added human characteristic to all animals and creatures he met. Unfortunately this toad was not as hyperactive and enthusiastic as the Kenneth Grahame character in The Wind in the Willows, this toad was still, tranquil and seemed at peace with the world.

Toads are well camouflaged and are usually brown or grey in colour. They like a damp or woody habitat that has a good source of insects and slugs.
