Photographing nature respectfully

In the field with Victoria Hillman

I recently worked with Victoria Hillman setting up a natural photography course, which focused on being respectful to the environment. It is always great to work with someone who shares similar interests and discusses different aspects of photography, nature and more importantly capturing tricky subjects in a creative way.

Victoria is a scientist by training with a BSc in zoology with marine zoology and an MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation. Victoria is a completely self-taught photographer learning as she goes capturing the natural world.

Here is a few shots I took between helpingĀ students on the course.

A few photography tips

  • Never litter – take it home.
  • Do not trample – Try to leave no suggestion of your visit
As best as possible keep to existing trails and paths
  • Do not remove wild flowers – It is illegal to pick the commonly called four Fs’ fruit, foliage, fungi or flowers.
  • And most of all be responsible
